In The Beginning
“Home is where your heart is” and nowhere is there a
heart beating stronger with hometown pride than in the community
of Tignish. Settled in 1799 by eight Acadian families and joined
in 1811 by two Irish families, the community retains its French/Irish
influence and has since become a successful fishing community in
the Prince County area of Western PEI, Canada, with a population
of 833 citizens.
