One of the first lighthouses on the Island and still
considered one of the most important because of its
role played in warning ships off the two-mile rock reef.
Built in 1866 and moved in land three times because of
erosion. It stands about 18 meters high with a dioptric
lens system and contains an electric light that was
installed in 1970. Its beacon some 25 meters above the
sea is visible from about 29 km out to sea.
