| Anne of Green Gables House $49.99 CAN $31.99 US Another site with information on Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery and her fictional character Anne Shirley: |
The first miniature in
the collection portrays "Wash Day" with Anne
and Marilla in the kitchen at Canada's most famous home -
Green Gables House in Cavendish, P.E.I.
As a child Lucy Maud often visited her elderly cousins - David and Margaret MacNeill who were brother and sister, and the owners of Green Gables which was built in the mid 1800's. When writing her first book, she used both the exterior appearance of the Green Gables house and the interior of her grandparents MacNeill's house as the setting. Today Green Gables House is a national park and a major tourist attraction. Visitors to the house can go inside to view the authentic replicas of the rooms and the furniture, which were used as the setting of the famous novels written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. One is able to see the importance of Green Gables House as restorations to the house began immediately after it was a victim to a fire in the spring of 1997, and the house was reopened to visitors just a few months later on July 1, 1997 - Canada Day. | Province House $49.99 CAN $31.99 US Other sites containing information about Province House: |
The second miniature in
the collection depicts "The First Meeting" of
the Fathers of Confederation in 1864 at Canada's
Birthplace Province House, Charlottetown, P.E.I.![]() In 1839, due to the need of a building for the Supreme Court and the legislature, action began for the design of a structure. In January of 1847, the first session of the P.E.I. Legislature was held in the new building, which is now known as Province House, built by Island architect Isaac Smith. Province House was designed, built, and furnished by Islanders. Charlottetown was chosen for the location of the 1864 Conference "The First Meeting" to discuss the possible union of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. This conference was held at Province House in September 1864. Twenty-six delegates from P.E.I., N.B., N. S., Canada East, and Canada West attended. A photograph of the delegates was taken in front of Government House, and eleven of the men in this photograph are depicted on the back of the miniature. In 1974, Parks Canada restored Province House. Some of the interior parts were restored to their original state of 1864. In April 1995 there was a bombing at Province House, resulting in more restorations. 1997 marks the 150th anniversary of Province House. Visitors can tour the building, dress in historic costumes and have their photograph taken, watch slide shows or outdoor performances by the Confederation Players. Birthday parties are also held on the lawn of Province House, including cake and refreshments, games, races, ribbons and prizes for all who participate. The above information

| West Point Light House $59.99 CAN $37.99 US Another site with information about the West Point Lighthouse: |
The third miniature in
the collection envisions the legend of "The Phantom
Ship" of the Northumberland Straight, often seen
from the shores of West Point Lighthouse, West Point,
P.E.I.
Today, after undergoing some reconstruction, the lighthouse has nine guest rooms, museum and a restaurant. Also inside the lighthouse, are displays of some of the original equipment once used to rotate the lantern. As mentioned earlier, the back of the miniature envisions the legend of the Phantom Ship. Sightings of the Phantom Ship have occurred as early as 1786, mostly in the spring and the fall, but some people have reported seeing the ship in the summer and even when there is ice on the Strait. Some who have seen the Phantom Ship recall seeing flames and people on the ship's deck. There is really no explanation of the Phantom Ship, just theories of how it got its existence. The most common theory is that the ship was occupied by pirates who had made a pact with the devil while engulfed with flames and about to sink. The pact involved the devil hiding the pirates treasure and ensuring that it was never found. For this favor from the devil, the pirates had to sail forever on the burning ship. This of course would be the Phantom Ship that is sometimes sighted off the shores of P.E.I. The above information

| St. Simon & St. Jude Church $49.99 CAN $34.99 US Another site with information about St. Simon & St. Jude Church: |
The fourth miniature in the collection
depicts "The Tignish Pipe Organ," installed in 1882 in the
gallery of the St. Simon and St. Jude Roman Catholic church,
Tignish, Prince Edward Island.![]() The construction of St. Simon and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church began in 1859. However, the assembly of local materials, including a half a million bricks made at a brickyard just outside of town, had begun three years earlier. The church was constructed, almost entirely, of local materials and of local labor. An architect named P.C. Keely was hired to design and supervise the construction of the church. Keely designed and built several other churches in this High Gothic Style, however St. Simon & St. Jude may well have been his most austere and refined Gothic statement. The building of the church took fourteen months and the exhilaration of its completion prompted one of the young workers to perform a headstand on top of the steeple. St. Simon and St. Jude Church is the focal point and civic heart of the historic Irish-Acadian town of Tignish. The 165-foot spire soars above the town, dominating the surrounding landscape, and for decades has served as a landmark for local fishermen. The Neo-Gothic church is still unsurpassed for its simplicity, strength and elegance. Unique to St. Simon and St. Jude is the 1882 tracker pipe organ located in the gallery of the church. The Tignish Pipe Organ was built by Louis Mitchell of Montreal. Louis Mitchell was the first Canadian Pipe Organ Builder. The original cost of this historic instrument was $2,400.00, today it is valued at close to a million dollars. There only exists about four other organs still in extant by Louis Mitchell and the one at St. Simon and St. Jude remains in the best original condition. The above information
