Getting Here

Tignish is located at the end of Route 2 West. We can be reached in many different ways. Note that the speed limit on our primary highways is 90 km/h and on secondary roads it is 80 km/h or less.

Confederation Bridge (Borden)

Follow Route 1 (TCH) to Albany Interchange, bear right into Route 1A towards Summerside. Bypass Summerside to the roundabout at Travellers Rest. Turn onto Route 2 West towards Tignish. Follow Route 2 West into Tignish. Distance from Tignish – 112 km (about 90 minutes).

Northumberland Ferries (Wood Islands)

Follow Route 1 (TCH) to Charlottetown. Turn right after the bridge onto the Charlottetown bypass highway (also Route 1). Follow the bypass to Route 2. Bear right onto Route 2 West and follow this into Tignish. Distance from Tignish – 208 km (about 150 minutes).

Charlottetown Airport

Note: Car rentals are available at the airport.

Cross the highway at the Airport exit to access the Sherwood Road. Follow this to the Traffic lights at Route 2. Turn right onto Route 2 West and follow Route 2 West to Tignish. Distance from Tignish – 145 km (about 110 minutes).

Other PEI Areas

Route 2 runs from Souris to Tignish. From any area on PEI, simply access Route 2 and follow Route 2 West to Tignish.

Visitor Information Centres

There are a variety of Visitor Information Centres (VIC) spread across PEI. The closest ones are along Route 2 in Mount Pleasant and at the Tignish Cultural Centre. These usually are only open during summer tourist season.

Hospital Care

The Western Hospital in Alberton provides 24-7 emergency care for the West Prince Area. The Hospital is 17 km from Tignish along Routes 153 and 152. The area is serviced by the Island’s Ambulance system and can be accessed by phoning 911.
