A public meeting will be held on Tuesday November 10th at the Tignish Parish Centre for anyone interested in participating in the Tignish Bicentennial Community Play. A portion of the play will be read at 7:00pm. The play is set in the 1920's and is a lively look at crucial time in Tignish, the formation of the Tignish fisheries.
The director of the play and the writer of the play are both from Theater PEI. They are not only looking for actors but they are also looking at conducting workshops in various theater skills such as set design and construction, costume design, sound and lighting and acting and music.
The play will support a large cast with many speaking and roles for extras. The community play will be shooting to perform the play at the end of April.
This is an excellent opportunity to get some professional theater advice while at the same time participating in an event that will benefit the whole community.
All ages are welcome, if you're young or old and are interested in some aspect of a community play, be it acting, stage design, stage management, lighting costumes, make-up or anything else come to the parish centre on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00pm.
If you're a young actor who likes to act in school plays there could be a part for you or if you're a good carpenter who would like to get involved in building the set there could be a part for you.
We know there are many talented people in the area who are interested in participating in such a performance. We need to have as many people at the meeting as we can, to decide on the interest in the play and also how many people the play will need to accommodate. Come and bring a friend you think would like to participate, the more people we have the better the play will be. If you need more information or would like to come but can not make it to the meeting on Tuesday night call the Bicentennial office at 882-1999.
