Oktoberfest was held on Thursday October 22nd at the Tignish Legion. Over 25 committees set up booths to explain to the public what they were preparing for the Bicentennial year. Michael Pendergast provided the entertainment for the event and the community play group read a portion of their play. Bruce Arsenault sang the Bicentennial theme song entitled "Tignish is Home". Door prizes were given out at the end of the night and everyone enjoyed the event. Thanks to everyone who attended and who worked at the booths.
Community Play is almost a completed work. Theater PEI confirms it will be done the end of November. Anyone who is interested in participating in costume, set design, lighting or acting workshops can call the Bicentennial office to get their name on the workshop lists. Actors are needed for the community play but there is also a need for numerous backstage helpers. The play is set in the 1920's and it takes a lively look at the formation of the Tignish Fisheries. If interested call 882-1999. The community play is shooting to perform the production in late April.
Bicentennial Web Page is up and running. If you require information on accommodations, events, activities, restaurants, or history it's all on the web page. Check it out at www.tignish.com.
